Weight versus volume
The word "ounce" causes more candle mistakes than almost anything else. An ounce (oz) is a unit of weight. A fluid ounce (fl oz) is a unit of volume. Jars are sold by fluid ounces, while wax and fragrance oil are measured by weight. Because wax and most fragrance oils are lighter than water, the numbers never match one to one.
